What We Do

Bhavita Foundation

Child Care Program – Residential Care Institute:

At Bhavita Foundation, we recognize the critical role of a stable and nurturing environment in fostering wholesome child development. Sadly, not every child enjoys this advantage, exposing them to risks such as malnutrition, violence, and exploitation. In order to extend Comprehensive Care & Protection, Bhavita is running a Residential Home for Boys in Hyderabad who come from Homeless, Street & other vulnerabilities.

Our Boys Residential Home is dedicated to providing a nurturing environment where every child can thrive. Central to our approach is the Family Like Care model, which ensures personalized, individualized care delivered by trained caregivers. Children in the home receive utmost care, safe shelter, nutritious food, education, life-skills, health support, sports, career planning, higher education, etc.

By emphasizing continuity and a supportive community environment, we aim to create a safe and loving space where each child can grow and develop to their fullest potential. Join us in making a lasting impact on young lives through compassionate care and unwavering support at Bhavita Foundation’s Boys Residential Home.

Learning, Caring & Lifeskills Centre for the vulnerable children:

Bhavita is running a Learning, Caring & Lifeskills centre for the children of the Commercial Sexworkers community in the redlight area in Pune.  Every eight minutes, a child goes missing, highlighting the alarming reality of child vulnerability in India. According to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), there are approximately 5.4 million children of commercial sex-workers in the country, many of whom reside with their mothers in red-light areas (NHRC, 2008).

Mothers in these environments struggle to raise their children amidst unsafe conditions marked by criminal activities, drug trafficking, and gang violence. Witnessing their mothers engage in sexual activities further traumatizes these children, compounding their hardships. These children face significant challenges in meeting their basic needs such as food, shelter, and medical care. They often lack access to education and proper clothing, perpetuating their vulnerability.

Bhavita is trying to address some of these challenges, especially by providing a learning & caring space for the children of commercial sex workers.  In this centre, children have lifeskill-building sessions that aim to make them aware of self-protection, Education & study support, supplementary nutrition, & a safe place at those times when their mothers are not available to attend them.

Early Childhood Care & Development:

The pre-primary education and early childhood care pays long-lasting impacts on socio-physical wellbeing. The World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, and UNESCO emphasize the critical importance of early childhood care and development (ECCD) in enhancing both the physical and psychosocial well-being of children. ECCD programs are designed not only to support children’s overall health but also to foster cognitive skills essential for their future educational success

At our organization, we prioritize ECCD to enhance children’s physical and psychosocial well-being while nurturing their cognitive skills. By investing in quality ECCD programs, we aim to empower children for lifelong success and contribute to global efforts in eradicating poverty. The current focus on ECCD is through our Learning, Caring & Lifeskills Centre.  We aim to expand this initiative eventually. Join us in creating a brighter future through compassionate care and educational excellence.

Skill Development and Higher Education Support:

In the areas where Bhavita is working, many youth who could not continue their education are in need of stable livelihoods. Because of not having these opportunities they are engaged in unskilled & unwanted work such as rag-picking, daily-wage, etc.  Bhavita is providing linkages to such youth in receiving skilled training and placing them into skilled jobs.

In the same areas, there are children that wanted to pursue higher education which they discontinue as they cannot afford to pay the fees & other costs. For such children, Bhavita is providing support to continue their higher education.

Food & Nutrition program for the Old Aged women from vulnerable situations:

We understand the plight of elderly people who are facing struggles in getting basic necessities in daily life due to their physical incapability caused by growing age. To help them overcome their challenges, Bhavita is supporting an old age home in Andhra Pradesh to provide food & nutrition for them.  In addition to this, the old-age women in the redlight area are left out & unattended who need basic food & nutrition.  Bhavita provides food & nutrition for old-aged women in the redlight area in Pune.

Health & Hygiene in Ragpicking areas:

Maintaining proper hygiene is the simplest way to stay away from frequent illnesses.  The areas of rag-picking & the communities where the underserved people live are in a very unhygienic condition due to the ecosystems in the neighbourhood.  Bhavita is organising various awareness sessions on the importance of Hygiene habits, encouraging them to keep the community in a hygiene way.  Bhavita is conducting Free Health camps in these areas in collaboration with various organisations and extending referral services for those required to have further treatment.

Anti-trafficking awareness & prevention:

Bhavita is working on the red light area in Pune to create awareness & prevention of trafficking. we are passionately committed to preventing the trafficking of women and children. As of now, with our tiny interventions, we are organising awareness sessions, and collaborating with other organisations on rescue missions & rehabilitation.  Our aim is to reach out to this most vulnerable community through our holistic approach such as conducting rescue missions, providing rehabilitation services, offering shelter, impart skill training, facilitate employment opportunities, and extend crucial medical and legal assistance.

Central to our mission is raising awareness about trafficking, and empowering communities to recognize and address this pressing issue. Join us in our efforts to protect and support vulnerable individuals, ensuring a safer and more secure future for all.
